Side Effects of Tolterodine

Abdominal pain, dry mouth, headache, and constipation are some of the most commonly reported side effects of tolterodine. While these side effects are minor in most cases, it is possible to develop serious problems that require immediate medical attention. As with any medicine, side effects are possible with tolterodine tartrate (Detrol^®); however, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Serious Side Effects of Tolterodine

Some side effects with tolterodine, while occurring infrequently, are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:

Severe constipation
Worsening of glaucoma
Difficulty passing urine
Confusion
An irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia)
Signs of an allergic reaction, including unexplained rash, hives, itching, wheezing, and unexplained swelling.
