Who Should Not Take Tolterodine ER?

You should not take tolterodine ER if you:
 
  • Are allergic to tolterodine, Detrol LA, or any inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
     
  • Have uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma (an eye condition).
     
  • Have difficulty passing urine (known medically as urinary retention). This is often caused by conditions such as an enlarged prostate.
     
  • Have a condition that slows down the emptying of food from your stomach (known medically as delayed gastric emptying).
