Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Eye Drops

If you have certain eye problems that involve an infection and inflammation, tobramycin and dexamethasone (Tobradex®) may help treat your symptoms. Available as an ointment or suspension (eye drops), tobramycin and dexamethasone contains two active ingredients -- an antibiotic (to fight/prevent infection) and a steroid (to reduce inflammation).

In most cases, people tolerate this drug well. However, possible side effects can include eye redness, eyelid itching, and eyelid swelling. Reactions to this medicine tend to be minor and are typically easy to treat.

It's important to review the safety information for the ointment or eye drops with your healthcare provider before starting treatment. Tobramycin and dexamethasone may not be suitable for everyone, so make sure your healthcare provider is aware if you have any other medical conditions (such as glaucoma) or if you are taking any other types of medicine.
