Synvisc-One Treatment Information

Synvisc-One® (Hylan G-F 20) is a product used to treat arthritis of the knee. It contains two substances that work together to provide the cushioning and lubrication that the knee joint is unable to provide. In clinical studies, Synvisc-One was shown to relieve pain for up to six months. It is given as a single injection directly into the affected knee.

This medication is most appropriate for individuals who have not received adequate pain relief from other arthritis treatments (such as medications) but who are not yet good candidates for knee replacement surgery. It is generally well tolerated, but side effects may include knee pain, and knee stiffness, among others.

Before starting treatment with Synvisc-One, make sure your healthcare provider has information on your current medications. Also, tell your healthcare provider about any other medical conditions you have, such as circulation problems in the legs.
