Oxybutynin Chloride ER Drug Information
Healthcare providers often recommend oxybutynin chloride ER (Ditropan XL®) for the treatment of an overactive bladder. In particular, this medication is effective at relieving the following symptoms:
- Frequent urination
- Sudden, frequent urges to urinate
- Leaking accidents.
This medication works by binding to receptors in the bladder muscle, which helps it relax. It is taken just once a day, and you can take a dose either with or without food.
Before starting treatment with oxybutynin chloride ER, review information on possible side effects and drug interactions with your healthcare provider. Most people tolerate this medicine well; however, dry mouth, constipation, and drowsiness have been reported.
(Click Oxybutynin ER for more information on this drug, including what to do in cases of overdose, whether it is approved for children, if a generic version exists, and more.)
