Ketoconazole Gel Information

A healthcare provider may prescribe ketoconazole gel (Xolegel®) to help treat a skin condition called seborrhea. This prescription medication is thought to work by killing certain types of fungus that may cause this skin problem.

Ketoconazole gel is usually applied once daily for two weeks, although repeated treatments may be necessary for some people. While most people are able to use ketoconazole gel without any problems, some people may experience side effects, such as a burning sensation at the application site.

Although it may be an effective treatment, not everyone can use this medication. Information on ketoconazole gel should be discussed with your healthcare provider to help avoid potential complications. For example, you may not be able to use this medicine if you have certain allergies.
