Information on Carbidopa-Levodopa CR
Healthcare providers often prescribe carbidopa-levodopa CR (Sinemet® CR) for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. It can also treat Parkinson-like symptoms due to encephalitis, manganese poisoning, and carbon monoxide poisoning. The tablets are specially designed to release the active ingredients slowly over a period of four to six hours, which helps keep an even level of medication in the blood.
Safety information on carbidopa-levodopa CR should be reviewed with your healthcare provider before beginning treatment. This includes possible side effects, such as involuntary movements, confusion, and vomiting, and situations when the drug may need to be avoided, such as if you develop glaucoma, malignant melanoma, or a heart condition of any kind.
(Click Carbidopa-Levodopa CR for more information on this medication, including how it works, what to do in cases of overdose, and what to do if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.)
