Ginkgo Supplement Information

Ginkgo (
ginkgo biloba) is an herbal supplement taken for a wide variety of reasons, particularly for the improvement of memory and mental functioning. There are many different active compounds in ginkgo supplements; some of these compounds have "blood-thinning" properties, while others work as antioxidants.

Most people tolerate ginkgo well; however, it can cause side effects, including headaches, diarrhea, and stomach upset. Also, make sure your healthcare provider has information about other medications you are taking before you start taking ginkgo supplements, as drug interactions may occur, the results of which can be dangerous.
