Fluocinonide Gel Information
As a type of steroid, fluocinonide gel (Lidex®) is a medication prescribed for the treatment of dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, and various other skin conditions in adults. This medicine can help treat inflammation and itching by suppressing an overactive immune system, as well as reducing inflammation. It is typically applied in a thin layer to the affected areas of the skin two to four times daily.
Although this steroid may help relieve symptoms of these skin problems, not everyone can use this medication. Information on fluocinonide gel should be discussed with your healthcare provider before starting treatment to minimize risks and to help ensure safe treatment. For instance, you may not be able to use this drug if you have certain allergies, if you are taking certain medications, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
While most people tolerate this medicated skin gel well, side effects are possible and can include dryness and burning. In most cases, reactions to the drug tend to be mild and easy to treat.
