A healthcare provider may prescribe desoximetasone ointment (Topicort®) to treat certain inflammatory skin conditions, such as dermatitis, eczema, and psoriasis. This medicine is a type of steroid and works by reducing inflammation and suppressing an overactive immune system. The ointment is applied in a thin layer on the affected areas of the skin twice daily.

Before starting treatment with desoximetasone ointment, make sure to review the drug's safety information with your healthcare provider. For instance, you may not be able to use this medicine if you have certain allergies or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Also, this drug may react with certain other medications.
