Polyethylene Glycol Electrolyte Solution and Bisacodyl

Important Information for Your Healthcare Provider

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking this medication if you have:
 
  • Kidney disease, such as kidney failure (renal failure)
  • Ever had a seizure
  • Difficulty swallowing or problems with vomiting
  • A hole in the bowel (bowel perforation)
  • Intestinal blockage (obstruction)
  • Abdominal (stomach) pain, abdominal distention (swelling), or nausea and vomiting, which could be signs of a bowel obstruction
  • An electrolyte problem, such as low blood sodium (hyponatremia) or potassium (hypokalemia)
  • Dietary restrictions that require a low-salt diet
  • Stomach or bowel problems, including gastric retention, ulcerative colitis, toxic colitis, toxic megacolon, or ileus
  • A heart rhythm problem (arrhythmia) or condition called long QT syndrome
  • Heart problems, such as heart failure or a recent heart attack (myocardial infarction)
  • Recently been withdrawing from alcohol
  • Any allergies, including allergies to foods, dyes, or preservatives.

Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
