For the treatment of high blood calcium, dosing is based on weight -- typically 4 IU per kg of body weight every 12 hours. Miacalcin Injection Dosage: An Introduction

The dose of Miacalcin^® injection (calcitonin salmon injection) that your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:

Your weight
The medical condition being treated
How you respond to Miacalcin injection
Other medical conditions you may have
Other medications you may be currently taking.

As always, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.

Miacalcin Injection Dosage for Paget's Disease

The recommended starting dose for treating Paget's disease of the bone is Miacalcin injection 100 IU (0.5 mL) once daily. Your healthcare provider can give your injections (either just under the skin or into the muscle), but for most people, it is preferred that you give yourself the injections just under the skin.

Your healthcare provider may be able to decrease your dose (sometimes to 50 IU every other day) if you respond well to the medication.

Miacalcin Injection Dosage for Hypercalcemia

The recommended starting dose for high blood calcium (hypercalcemia) is based on weight -- Miacalcin 4 IU per kg (about 1.8 IU per pound) every 12 hours, injected either just under the skin or into the muscle. Your healthcare provider may need to increase your dose if you do not respond adequately to the medication.
