Miacalcin Injection Dosage

Miacalcin Injection Dosage for Osteoporosis

The best dose of Miacalcin injection for osteoporosis treatment has not yet been determined. Studies have suggested that 100 IU every other day is efficient, while some people have found every day or every third day dosing to be effective. Miacalcin can be injected just under the skin or into the muscle. For people giving the injections at home, injecting just under the skin, rather than into the muscle, is usually best.

You must take calcium and vitamin D in order for Miacalcin injection to work. You should take at least 1500 mg of calcium each day (this is best taken as 500 mg three times daily) and 400 IU of vitamin D each day, unless your healthcare provider recommends otherwise.

General Information on Dosing With Miacalcin Injection

Considerations for people taking Miacalcin injection include the following:

  • As the name implies, the medication comes as an injection, given either just under the skin (subcutaneously) or into the muscle (intramuscularly).

  • You take Miacalcin injection with or without food.

  • You can take Miacalcin injection at any time(s) of the day, but it is a good idea to take it at the same time(s) each day.

  • If you or your caretaker will be administering the Miacalcin injections, you should give them just under the skin, rather than into the muscle.

  • Make sure your healthcare provider shows you exactly how to give the injections and how to measure your Miacalcin dosage.

  • For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. Miacalcin injection will not work if you stop taking it.

  • If you are unsure about anything related to Miacalcin injection or your Miacalcin injection dosage, talk with your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking the drug without first discussing it with your healthcare provider.
