Risedronate delayed-release (AtelviaTM) is approved for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. This medication is unique in that, unlike other bisphosphonates, you do not need to take it on an empty stomach. In fact, risedronate delayed-release is designed to be taken immediately after breakfast.
Prior to taking this medication, review the safety information for risedronate delayed-release with your healthcare provider. This drug is not suitable for everyone, in particular those with kidney disease or esophageal problems. In addition, drug interactions are possible, so your healthcare provider needs a complete list of all other medicines you are taking, including supplements.
