Alendronate effervescent tablets (BinostoTM) are prescribed to reduce bone loss, increase bone density, and decrease the risk of breaking a bone in the spine and hip in women and men who have osteoporosis. This medicine is approved for use in adults only, and is designed for postmenopausal women and men who have low bone mass.
 
This medication comes as a tablet that is dissolved in plain, room-temperature water and swallowed once a week. Side effects are possible and may include nausea, heartburn, and indigestion.
 
If your healthcare provider recommends treatment with alendronate effervescent tablets, he or she will need information on your medical history and any other medications, vitamins, or supplements you are using. You should also talk to your healthcare provider before starting this drug if you are pregnant or have any allergies.
