Senior Health Home > Ropinirole XL

Clinical Studies

Studies have shown that ropinirole XL can help treat both early and advanced forms of Parkinson's disease. This medication was studied in people with early Parkinson's disease who were not yet taking levodopa (one of the most commonly used medications for Parkinson's) and in people with advanced Parkinson's disease who had been taking levodopa for quite some time. In both cases, ropinirole XL helped improve the symptoms of Parkinson's.

When and How to Take Ropinirole XL

Some general considerations include the following:
  • Ropinirole XL comes in tablet form. It is usually taken by mouth once a day.
  • It does not matter if you take the medication with food or on an empty stomach. If it bothers your stomach, try taking it with food.
  • Make sure to swallow the tablets whole. Do not dissolve, crush, or chew the tablets. Also, do not take tablets that are broken or chipped.
  • For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. It will not work if you stop taking it.

How to Store Ropinirole XL

This medication should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. It should also be stored in an airtight container. Keep ropinirole XL and all other medications out of the reach of children.
