Senior Health Home > Methyltestosterone Capsule Side Effects

Possible Side Effects

Methyltestosterone capsules are an older medication. As such, the information available on potential side effects is not as detailed as it is for newer medications. In fact, the prescribing information simply lists side effects that have been reported with androgens in general, not specifically for methyltestosterone capsules.

According to this limited information, some of the possible methyltestosterone capsule side effects include but are not limited to:

  • Body and facial hair growth
  • Male pattern baldness
  • Acne
  • Breast development (in men)
  • Increased frequency and duration of penile erections
  • Low sperm count, especially at high dosages
  • Increased or decreased sex drive
  • Headaches.

Final Thoughts

You may experience some or none of the methyltestosterone capsule side effects listed in this article. Unfortunately, there is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand if you will have problems with a medicine that you have never tried.

Therefore, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you develop any side effects while taking this drug or if something "just does not seem right." While it may not be related to methyltestosterone capsules, your healthcare provider will be able to diagnose and treat the problem.
