A number of medications may cause drug interactions with memantine XR, including amantadine, dextromethorphan, and carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, to name a few. Some of these negative reactions can cause high levels of memantine XR in the blood. To help prevent complications, tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking before starting Alzheimer's treatment.
