Locoid Lipocream
If you have eczema, psoriasis, or other skin conditions, your healthcare provider may recommend Locoid Lipocream. This steroid medication is different from most skin creams in that it feels like a cream, yet it holds in moisture like an ointment. It is applied two or three times a day to the affected area(s) of skin. Common side effects include burning, irritation, and itching.
Locoid Lipocream® (hydrocortisone butyrate) is a prescription skin medication. It is a topical steroid that is used to treat a wide variety of skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and allergic reactions. This product is approved for use in individuals as young as three months of age (for the treatment of atopic dermatitis) or for adults only (for all other uses).

Locoid Lipocream is made by Ferndale Laboratories, Inc., for Triax Pharmaceuticals, LLC.
Locoid Lipocream is part of a group of medications known as glucocorticoids. Glucocorticoids are a type of corticosteroid, or "steroid" for short. Although glucocorticoids have numerous effects in the body, they are used mostly for their anti-inflammatory or immune-suppressing properties. Locoid Lipocream works for most conditions by decreasing inflammation or suppressing an overactive immune system.
Locoid Lipocream is different from most creams, including regular Locoid Cream. It holds in moisture like an ointment, but feels like a cream (it does not leave a greasy, messy film).
