Cutivate Ointment Dosage

When applying a dose of Cutivate Ointment, more is not necessarily better. A thin layer is sufficient, and this should not be covered with a bandage or other dressing, as this increases the risk of side effects. Use this medication twice a day for as long as your healthcare provider recommends. This will likely be a short period, as long-term use also increases the risk of problems.

An Introduction to Your Dose of Cutivate Ointment

There is only one standard dosage for Cutivate Ointment® (fluticasone propionate ointment), regardless of your age or weight. As is always the case, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Cutivate Ointment Dosing Guidelines

The standard starting dosage when using Cutivate Ointment to treat itching or inflammation due to a wide variety of skin conditions (such as psoriasis, eczema, or atopic dermatitis) is a thin layer applied to the affected area(s) two times a day.
Do not cover the ointment with a dressing (such as a bandage), as this increases the risk of serious Cutivate Ointment side effects. Ask your healthcare provider how long you should use this medication; long-term use of topical steroids such as this can sometimes cause serious side effects.
