Drug Interactions With Calcitonin Salmon Nasal Spray
Bisphosphonates may cause drug interactions with calcitonin salmon nasal spray. Studies show that people who have taken a bisphosphonate in the past did not respond to the nasal spray as well as normal. To help prevent negative drug interactions with calcitonin salmon nasal spray, tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you are currently taking -- including vitamins and supplements.
Calcitonin salmon nasal spray (Fortical® nasal spray, Miacalcin® nasal spray) can potentially interact with a few different medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to drug interactions with calcitonin salmon nasal spray include various bisphosphonate medications, such as:
- Alendronate (Fosamax®, Fosamax Plus D™)
- Ibandronate (Boniva®)
- Etidronate (Didronel®)
- Pamidronate (Aredia®)
- Risedronate (Actonel®, Actonel With Calcium®)
- Risedronate delayed-release (Atelvia™)
- Tiludronate (Skelid®)
- Zoledronic acid (Reclast®, Zometa®).

Bisphosphonates
In studies, people who had taken a bisphosphonate in the past did not respond to calcitonin salmon nasal spray as well as normal. If you have taken bisphosphonates before, calcitonin salmon nasal spray may not work as well as it should.
