What If I Take an Overdose of Calcitonin Salmon Nasal Spray?

It is not known exactly what to expect from an overdose of calcitonin salmon nasal spray. Based on the way the drug works, potential effects of an overdose could include:
 
  • Low calcium in the blood
  • Muscle twitches or spasms
  • Seizures
  • An irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia).
     
If you happen to overdose on calcitonin salmon nasal spray, seek immediate medical attention.

How Should Calcitonin Salmon Nasal Spray Be Stored?

Each unopened bottle should be stored in the refrigerator, but should be stored at room temperature once opened. Before you use each bottle for the first time, make sure to let it warm up to room temperature. Keep calcitonin salmon nasal spray and all other medications out of the reach of children. Once you have assembled the nasal spray bottle, it must be stored upright, not on its side.
 
You must discard your bottle of calcitonin nasal spray after it has been opened for a certain period of time (35 days for Miacalcin nasal spray and 30 days for Fortical nasal spray).
 

What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose of Calcitonin Salmon Nasal Spray?

If you do not take your calcitonin salmon nasal spray as scheduled and remember on the same day, take your missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.
