Prostate Cancer and Androderm

Although Androderm® (testosterone patch) is an effective treatment for many men, it is not suitable for some people. For example, you should not use Androderm if you have prostate cancer. Because it contains testosterone, Androderm may stimulate the growth of testosterone-dependent prostate cancer cells. Also, this patch can increase the risk for an enlarged prostate gland.
Your healthcare provider will need to evaluate you for prostate cancer before you can begin treatment with Androderm. You will also be periodically evaluated during your treatment with this medicine.
