Androderm Uses

Clinical Effects

Androderm patches contain testosterone, the primary male sex hormone. Testosterone from the patch is absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream over a 24-hour period. As a result, testosterone blood levels increase.

With the Androderm patch, testosterone levels are highest in the morning and lowest at night. This pattern mimics the normal daily variation of testosterone levels observed in healthy young men. However, it is unknown if this effect is clinically significant.

Is Androderm Safe for Use in Children?

Androderm has not been approved for use in children. The medication has not been adequately studied in children younger than 15 years old. Talk to your child's healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of using this patch on children.

Can Older Adults Use It?

Older adults can use Androderm. However, they may be more sensitive to some of the effects of Androderm, including an enlarged prostate (prostatic hyperplasia), and may need to be monitored more closely.
