Androderm Patch for Low Testosterone

A healthcare provider may prescribe the Androderm® (testosterone patch) for treating low testosterone levels, also known as testosterone deficiency. It is only approved for use in men and comes in the form of a patch that is applied to the skin each day.
Low testosterone levels can occur when the testes fail to make enough testosterone, or when the hypothalamus or pituitary glands do not send out enough hormones to signal the production of testosterone by the testes. Some of the possible causes of low testosterone include:
  • Chemotherapy
  • Genetic abnormalities
  • Tumors.
Androderm patches work to increase low testosterone levels by releasing a certain amount of testosterone throughout a 24-hour period.
