Who Should Not Take Alendronate and Cholecalciferol?

You should not take alendronate and cholecalciferol if you:
 
  • Are allergic to alendronate, cholecalciferol, Fosamax Plus D, or any inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
     
  • Have low blood calcium (hypocalcemia).
     
  • Cannot sit or stand upright for 30 minutes (which is necessary in order to take alendronate and cholecalciferol)
     
  • Have problems with your esophagus, such as an esophageal stricture or difficulty swallowing.
