Aflibercept
Aflibercept is a prescription drug licensed to prevent vision loss caused by a certain type of age-related macular degeneration. It is also used to treat a certain type of macular edema. This medicine comes as an injection that is given directly in the eye by a healthcare provider. Eye pain, cataracts, and eye redness are possible side effects.

Aflibercept (Eylea™) is a prescription medication used to treat macular degeneration. Specifically, this drug is approved to treat a type of age-related macular degeneration called "wet" macular degeneration and to treat macular edema caused by retinal vein occlusion.

Just like any medicine, aflibercept can cause side effects. However, not everyone who receives the drug will experience problems. Most people tolerate it quite well.
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
Common side effects of aflibercept include but are not limited to:
- Redness or blood spots on the white part of the eye
- Eye pain
- Cataracts.
