Aflibercept (
Eylea™) is a prescription medication used to treat age-related
macular degeneration. Specifically, this drug is approved to treat one type of macular degeneration called neovascular "wet" macular degeneration.
Just like any medicine, aflibercept can cause side effects. However, not everyone who receives the drug will experience problems. Most people tolerate it quite well.
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
Common side effects of aflibercept include but are not limited to:
- Redness or blood spots on the white part of the eye
- Eye pain
- Cataracts.
